Developing a Campus Plan
Looking ahead, its always fun to anticipate how exciting and challenging somethings going to be: The "big game," the blind date, or the Economics final; life has so many great experiences in store for us. With all important things, we want to be as prepared as possible. Usually its best to think it through ahead of time and make a plan. With plans, we think through our dreams and expectations.
If you are a Christian, God has probably already begun to give you special dreams about the people you can reach out to and a way of impacting your campus for Christ. So, before you take your first step in reaching the campus for Christ this year, you need to take some time and plan out your expectations (Luke 14:28-30). Also, in leading other students, you need to know where you are going. Having a plan gives you tracks to run on, and everyone involved knows where you are going.
Let other students or adults in the community be a part of making this plan. You need each other. The plan you put together will give you a reference point to help you keep on track through the year. You want to remember the students needs, secure available resources, and anticipate any roadblocks.
Spend some time planning through the Campus Plan worksheet. It will help to use pencil. As your ministry grows, you may find that the plan needs to be changed. Feel free to do that. You may need to adjust your plan every six months. Thats normal.
In the next week or two, set aside some time to begin your planning. Have fun and thank God in advance for what He is going to do!
