How To Develop a Compassionate Heart

Here are four principles that will help us understand God’s heart for people:

1. Pray among the masses.

Walk among people and pray. As a student you would benefit  from walking through the halls of your school in silent prayer, asking God to allow you to see your classmates as He sees them. Walk through your neighborhood, suburb, ghettos, sit at ball games, observe people with a heart that is seeking the kingdom of God, and God will begin to give you a compassion for people.

2. Find a Christian friend with a burning heart to see people come to Christ.

Pray with him or her for others on your campus, in your city, and for the nation. With your friend, pray for the lost.

3. Educate yourself.

Learn about your city, your country, your world. Develop global vision, pray for other countries.

4. Study the Gospels; read with an eye to see the heart of Jesus.

If you take time to read and study the work of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, you will find yourself understanding more intimately the heart of Jesus Christ.
